Speaker:

What you focus on is what you will move towards. You are determined by what you think. We talk to ourselves all the time.

Our belief system determines our world view (Prov. 4:23) and how we response to problems. 90% of the results in our life are because of our choices. That is why the Bible teaches us to guard our hearts. The heart is more than the mind, in Hebrew they think holistically.   1) View the future from God’s perspective (Eph. 1:18)

Since the Fall, our eyes are darkened. Paul prayed for the eyes of our heart to be enlightened (Eph. 1:18) so that we will know our future; to be heavenly minded not earthly minded. We gain self worth when we know who we are; created in the image of God.

In 2008 everything around T. Tay collapsed. He went into depression. For 7 days he couldn’t eat, sleep. In his darkest hour he asked God to take his life, he was suicidal, no hope. Psalm 23 was his focus on the 7th day. He experienced the resurrection power of His word. The word ‘I AM’ appeared in Psalm 23 seven times. God is Jehovah Jireh, Shalom. The situation did not changed but he received from God peace, healing, provision to fight every battle. When there is a shadow, know that there is light. We must understand the call he has for us. God said he was sufficient for him, he was taught to rely on God, not horses and chariots. Now he knows how to sympathize with the depressed (2Cor 1:4).

‘The glorious inheritance in the saints’ (1Pet. 1:4)

We will not perish. We will not be tainted, or spoiled. We will never fail, it is eternal. God’s inheritance is precious for us (Isa. 61:7). We are the king and priest. We can wake up with the promise of the glorious inheritance.

The life of a king is a life of endurance. Our light and temporary afflictions cannot compare with the glory that awaits us.

Is your mind renewed by the Word of God?

2) View daily needs from God’s perspective. (Eph.1:19)

‘. . and His incomparably great power for us who believe.’

 Deu. 11:10-12

Egypt is a flat land while Canaan is different, with mountain and valleys. This calls for a radical change in life style. That radical life style calls for a self-dependency to God-dependency. Our new man is to rely on God; daily depend on Him.

Egypt operates on the ‘Principle of Lack’. We sweat and toil, and it is always not enough. Our problem is that we toil to meet our indulgence and we are not happy with ourselves.

God’s economy operates on ‘Principle of Abundance’. Kingdom principle is restful abundance. God can provide our needs, so we don’t need to battle, we build. God is our Jehovah Jireh.

John 3:26 John the Bapist’s disciples were concerned that ‘everyone was going to Jesus.’ John said we can receive only what is given him from heaven (John 3:27). Jesus must increase and he must decrease (John 3:30)

We used to be in the kingdom of darkness, but the work of Jesus has taken us out of darkness to light. But between Canaan and Egypt there is the wilderness.

The wilderness is our journeying out of ‘Egypt to Canaan’ out of the ‘Principle of lack’ to the ‘Principle of abundance’.

The sinful DNA leads us to destructive negative attitudes; compare -covert – complain. When we start comparing we don’t know what is best for us.

Our meaning in life is the most important. Where do we come from, what are we doing, and where are we going to?

1Cor 13:13 now these three remain: faith, hope and love. Love is the greatest. The present ‘now’ is important, because it is now that belongs to us. We live in the agape love. Our Christianity is not a religion but a relationship centering on the Love of God. We need to grow in Christ.
